Lorry Crane Operator Course
Legal Requirement Under the Workplace Safety and Health Act Chapter 354A, Workplace Safety and Health (Operation of Cranes) Regulations 2011 Part 2 (General Provisions), states that:

4. No person shall operate a lorry loader unless – |
| |
|
 |
he has successfully completed a training course, acceptable to the Commissioner, on the operation of a lorry
loader; |
| |
|
 |
if required by the Commissioner, he attends re-training on the operation of a lorry loader and successfully com
pletes such re-training; and |
| |
|
 |
if required by the Commissioner, he produces a current medical certificate from a registered medical practitioner
certifying that he is medically fit to operate a lorry loader |

5. It shall be the duty of the responsible person to ensure that no person is allowed to operate a lorry loader unless the person
satisfies the requirements referred to in paragraph 4. |

To detect ground condition and proximity hazards |
 |
To learn how to set operational outrigger |
 |
To master safe loading / unloading, lifting and placing of materials techniques using lorry crane |

To learn about the factors affecting lifting capacity and interpretation of load chart |
 |
To receive training on how to respond to lifting accidents and emergencies |

Regardless of new and in-experienced to experienced lorry loader operators, different pathways towards proficiency are catered for.

Are you a New Lorry Crane Operator or Aspire to beome one?
If you are new and inexpreienced operator or aspire to become one, the Lorry Crane Operator Course is for you. It consists of a comprehensive 1 day theory lesson and 1 day practical lesson ending with a 1/2 day assessment. The course covers a range of topics including legal requirements, safety devices, roles and respinsibilities, function and comparison of different cranes as well as safety aspects towards the operation of the cranes.
A. Full Lorry Crane Operator Course (LCOC)

Are you an Experienced Lorry Crane Operator?
As an experienced Lorry Crane Operator, you should possess the following:
i. More than 3 years experience in the operation of lorry crane (This is to be certified by the company in the form of a testimony) OR
ii. A certificate of training issued by manufacturers or training providers (e.g. Tat Hong, Palfinger, Hiab, etc) AND
iii. Basic knowledge of the SIngapore Workplace Safety and Health System AND
iv. Basic knowledge of the legislations concerning lorry crane and its operators
If you posses the above and also the mentioned Entry Requirements for Lorry Crane Operator Course (LCOC), you are able to opt for the following pathways:

A. Direct Assessment Pathway - Lorry Crane Operator Competency Test (LCOCT)
This is a 1 Hour Written Assessment and 1/2 Hour Practical Assessment. You must have good knowledge on Singapore Workplace Safety and Health Systems and relating legislations to attempt the assessment directly.

Conditions
- You must pass the Written Assessment before being able to do your Practical Assessment.
- If you were to fail the Written Assessment, you will have to attend an 8 hour theory class before attempting the Written Assessment again.
- Please note that the Written Assessment and Practical Assessment will not be held on the same day

B. Wong Fong Refresher Course (Optional)
3 Hrs Theory + Lorry Crane Operator Competency Test (LCOCT)

- If you were to fail the Written Assessment, you will have to attend an 8 hour theory class before attempting the Written Assessment again.
- Practical Sessions will be held on the same day afternoon in half hour slots after the Written Assessment |

C. Theory + Direct Assessment Pathway
8 Hour Theory Class + Lorry Crane Operator Competency Test (LCOCT)
If you are looking at further enhancing your knowledge based on the topics covered during the full Lorry Crane Operator Course (LCOC), you are welcomed to join in the full theory session before attempting your assessments. You can immediately opt for a retest date should you fail your Written Assessment.
